Tom Pearce, Honest Men Picks Predictor (@tompearce97)

This will be just the second meeting between the two sides, Elgin winning the first 3-2 in 2010.

How will tomorrow’s game play out?

Ayr United Team News & Injuries:

David Hopkin’s men came through Saturday’s game unscathed, but he will have an extra man to choose from as Jamie Barjonas joined on loan from Rangers a few days ago.

Elgin City Team News & Injuries:

Similarly, Gavin Price will have the same players to choose from as he had in Saturday’s game.

Ayr United form:

The Honest Men came from a goal down to draw 1-1 at home to Raith Rovers at the weekend.

Hopkin is pleased with what he has seen from his opening three games, winning four points from games against Hearts, Dundee and Raith.

With two wins, two draws and two losses from their last six games, they currently find themselves fifth in the form table.

Elgin City form:

Elgin’s push for promotion was halted at the weekend, losing 2-1 at home to Edinburgh City on Saturday.

They are in quite good form, though. They have won four and lost two in their last six, which puts them third in the League Two form table.

They also have a decent record on home soil this season, winning four of their six league games at home.

Our Picks For Honest Men Picks – Elgin City V Ayr United:

In Focus

1. Will Ayr score in: 60-74

Aaron Muirhead put The Honest Men level in the 72nd meeting at the weekend and it’s not unusual for them to score around then.

In fact, they have scored their joint-most amount of goals in the 60-74 period this season, with 19% of their goals scored coming between those 15 minutes.

2. Will Ayr score in the first half? Yes

Ayr don’t tend to score many goals in the first period of games, with just four goals from 11 on the road.

Actually, they have failed to score in the first 45 minutes in 36% of their games on the road this season.

Edinburgh scored both of their goals in the first period at the weekend, and with Elgin having played just one game since December, they could take a while to get up to the pace of the game.

3. Will M. McKenzie score? No

The center-forward has just the two goals to his name this season, with both of them coming in the league.

McKenzie has started in just 14% of Ayr’s games this season, but the last time he was in the starting XI, he scored a brace in the 3-1 win over Dundee last week.

This will be the first time he will come up against Elgin in his career.

4. Will C. Smith score in the first half? No

Smith has found the net on eight occasions this season, two of them coming in the League Cup.

The thing his, seven of his eight goals have come in the second half, showing he tends to get his business done in the closing 45 minutes.

This will also be Smith’s only appearance coming up against Elgin.

5. Will M. Moffat score? No

The versatile forward has scored twice from five games in the League Cup this campaign.

Moffat hasn’t been a starter recently, starting in just two of Ayr’s last six games, but it has been a while since his last goal with it coming in November.

6. How many goals will Ayr score? 2

The Honest Men scored three goals in their last away game, however it’s more likely that they’ll score the two goals.

In fact, they have scored exactly two goals in 36% of their games on the road this season.

The hosts have conceded five goals at home in the league this season, averaging 0.71 goals against per game at Borough Briggs.

Quickfire
