Ayr United welcome Raith Rovers to Somerset Park on Saturday, as they go head to head in the Scottish Championship.
This will be the 45th meeting between the two sides, with Ayr coming out on top on 17 occasions.
The two sides also met earlier this month, the game ending 0-0, but how will this weekend’s game play out?
Ayr United team news & injuries:
David Hopkin doesn’t have any new injury worries following Tuesday night’s game, with all the players coming off unscathed.
Raith Rovers team news & injuries:
John Mcglynn will be without Iain Davidson this weekend following his red card on Tuesday, but he will still have the rest of his players to pick from.
Ayr United form:
It was a solid win for The Honest Men in the week, beating Dundee away 3-1.
They’re still not in the best form, though. They are currently sitting seventh in the form table with two wins, three losses and one draw from their last six.
As well as that, Ayr’s recent home record isn’t great, losing each of their last three games at Somerset Park.
Raith Rovers form:
Saturday’s visitors didn’t have the best of nights on Tuesday, losing 1-0 at home to Inverness as well as being reduced to 10 men.
Their form is quite inconsistent at the moment, with two wins, two draws and two losses in their last six games.
They have also won just one of their last four games on the road, losing two and drawing one.
Our Picks for Honest Men Picks – Ayr United V Raith Rovers
1. Will Ayr United score in the first half? Yes
Mark Mackenzie’s first goal on Tuesday came in the 18th minute, and it’s not unusual for Ayr to find the net in the first half of games.
In fact, they have scored in the first 45 minutes in 44% of their games at Somerset Park this season.
It’s not going to be easy, though. The visitors have conceded just four goals from 10, averaging just 0.4 goals against in the first period when on the road.
2. Will Ayr United score in the second half? Yes
The Honest Men found the net on two occasions in the second 45 minutes in the week.
As well as that, Raith have let in more than double the amount of goals in the second half compared to the first when playing away.
With 10 goals conceded from 10, they are currently averaging a goal against per second period on the road.
3. How many goals will Ayr United score? 2
It was three goals for Ayr at the weekend, however it would be surprising to see them repeat that due to the fact they haven’t scored three goals at home all season.
However, they have scored exactly two goals in 22% of their games at Somerset Park this campaign.
Raith’s defensive record isn’t as good when playing away compared to when they’re at home.
With 14 goals conceded, they are averaging 1.4 goals against per game on the road.
4. Will Mark McKenzie score? No
The forward found the net twice in the week, scoring his only two goals of the season.
McKenzie has started in just 10% of Ayr’s games this season, so it isn’t surprising to see him have a low amount of goals to his name.
This will be the youngsters second time coming up against Raith in his career, coming on for just seven minutes in the reverse fixture earlier this month.
5. How many shots on target will Ayr United have? 3
The Honest Men scored with all three of their shots on target on Tuesday with Adam Legzdins failing to make a save in the Dundee goal.
Ayr have also failed to hit the target on more than three occasions in any of their last three games.
In the match between the sides a few weeks ago, Ayr managed to test Jamie MacDonald just once.
6. Will Cammy Smith score in the second half? No
The attacking midfielder has eight goals to his name this season, with six of them coming in the league.
The last time Smith found the net was actually in the game against Dundee on Tuesday, scoring Ayr’s second goal.
This will be his fifth appearance against Raith, scoring the one goal in his previous four games against them.
